WebDec 9, 2012 · This Paget carbine was produced before August 1809 - presumably in 1808 or the first half of 1809. This was, of course, at the start of the Peninsular adventure so the chances are the carbine was issued to a regiment designated for overseas service (or just returned from Corunna for example). I will post details of the carbine on a separate topic. WebJun 17, 2015 · The standard British cavalry carbine for the Napoleonic Wars was the short-barrelled Pattern 1805 Paget Carbine, but some of the light dragoon/hussar units were more fortunate in having rifled carbines, which should actually be called Cavalry Rifles. The cavalry version of Ezekiel Baker’s rifle was introduced as the Pattern 1803.
